ST CLEARS 0 ATHLETIC 22
Athletic travelled to near neighbours St Clears for the first local derby of the season, and came away with the points after a hard fought, but deserved win.
Heavy showers at intervals throughout the match made things difficult but none the less entertaining. Both sides gave their all but it was the visitors who held the advantage at half time racing to a 0-17 lead. Red & Blacks try scorers were prop Daf Bowen & winger Steff Jones. Stand off Karl Williams added two conversions & a penalty.
A solitary try was the difference between the sides in the second period. Despite long periods of attacking phases by the Saints, a concentrated & determined defence by Athletic kept their try line intact. A superb team effort resulted in full back Robbie Thomas crossing the whitewash for the final score of the day. Captain Dan Evans and his team will be well pleased with the second consecutive win of the season against worthy & very difficult opponents.
