Pre season friendly - ATHLETIC 31 LAMPETER TOWN 7
A sizeable crowd enjoyed a fully committed performance by both sides in last night's pre season friendly. The first half was highly competitive as defences dominated proceedings. The first score of the game came on 35 minutes with a well worked threequarter move resulting in a try wide out for the home side. Athletic lead 7 - 0 at the break.
A try apiece in the first five minutes of the second half was to set the pace and the Red & Blacks fitness levels was to eventually prove decisive as they scored a further three tries in the match.
Athletic skipper & scrum half Carwyn Thomas will have been pleased with his team's performance but will be looking for improvements in the sterner test against West Central Div 1 high flyers Maesteg Harlequins next Thursday 24th August, once again at home 7.15pm.
