ATHLETIC 36 v PONTARDDULAIS 6

​For a second consecutive Saturday we were blessed with a beautiful sun bathed match day afternoon. The Athletic Park playing surface was firm, and the Red & Blacks were in the mood to continue where they left off in last weeks 58-17 home win against Fishguard & Goodwick.

​Despite a number of changes to the squad, Athletic played some attractive rugby against a team who sit three places above them in the league table. The pack lay the foundations with some powerful set piece work and tireless work in the loose. The speedy threequarters were directed well by half backs Nick Rees & Dave Evans which saw the homesters score five tries without reply against a lively Bont side. Impressive defensive work was also a major contributor to the home side's success.

Athletic try scorers were Josh Watson (2), Robbie Thomas (2) & Dan Evans. Josh Watson added the extra points with 4 conversions & a penalty. Pontarddulais points scorer was Dafydd John who kicked two penalties. 

Next Saturday the Red & Blacks travel to Parc OJ to take on Llanybydder in the penultimate match of the season, kick off 2.30pm
